SOFIA, Bulgaria — Bulgaria's world ice dancing champion Maxim Staviski faces possible criminal charges following a car accident that left one person dead and another seriously hurt. The crash of Staviski's sport utility vehicle and two cars occurred late Sunday on a bridge near the Black Sea city of Bourgas, police said Monday. A blood test showed the Russian-born Staviski, who was not injured, was over the legal driving limit for alcohol, an Interior Ministry spokeswoman said. The driver of one of the cars was seriously injured and died later in a hospital, and the passenger was hospitalized in a coma. Traffic police in Bourgas said Staviski might face criminal charges. Staviski won the ice dancing event at the 2006 World Figure Skating Championships in Calgary with his dance partner and girlfriend, Albena Denkova.
